Debra Knight trades under the name Two White Hats
Where does the name come from? “Big hat, little hat is the logo – that’s me and my daughter. It’s also to give an idea of nurturing and looking after yourself with healthy products.
We blend seasoning mixes for cooking from raw ingredients that we buy. It all started when I became celiac and stared reading ingredient lists on jars and was horrified at all the preservatives. I started making my own mixes and my husband suggested I should start selling them so we began trading in August 2016.
I started with four blends: English, Italian, Season to Taste and Indian. Then I brought out Moroccan and Mexican. We are changing our labelling soon so that it has more information about the product.
We trade at Houghton, Brampton and Carlisle farmers’ markets as well as food festivals such as Taste Cumbria, and country shows. I go to the Allergy Free exhibitions in Glasgow and Liverpool.
I’m hoping to be selling in Booths soon as they came and tasted my product at Taste Cumbria and I am interested in finding other retailers that would stock our spices.
